Honest Comparison

How GNV compares to the alternatives

Buyers shortlist GNV against a small number of dominant platforms. Here is the honest, feature-by-feature picture - including the places where each alternative is strong, and where GNV is built differently.

Updated April 2026 - Comparisons based on publicly available product information at time of writing.

Who GNV typically replaces or complements

The platforms operators most often shortlist alongside GNV, grouped by what they're built for:

  • Nutrition / recipe calculation: Nutritics, Saffron Software, MenuSano, Calcmenu
  • Supplier specifications and allergen data: Erudus, Kafoodle, FoodMaestro
  • Supply chain traceability: FoodLogiQ (Trustwell), Wherefour, RFXcel, IBM Food Trust
  • HACCP / digital food safety: Navitas, FoodCheck, Lightspeed Restaurant compliance

GNV's category is broader - it's an operational and compliance suite, not a point solution. The comparison below focuses on operational depth, not feature-tick parity.

Where each alternative is strong

Nutritics

Mature recipe and nutrition calculation engine, large UK and Irish foodservice user base, well-known reseller channel. Best fit for organisations whose primary need is nutrition analysis with allergen labelling on top, not full operational traceability.

Saffron

Long-standing menu-management and procurement-leaning platform inside contract caterers, particularly UK-headquartered groups. Strong in cost control and menu engineering. Compliance is bolted on, not foundational.

Erudus

Industry-recognised supplier-data exchange. The strength is the supplier network and standardised product data, not the in-kitchen workflow. Operators often run Erudus alongside a kitchen platform rather than instead of one.

FoodLogiQ (Trustwell)

Mature supply-chain traceability for North American foodservice. Strong on FSMA 204 alignment and recall workflow. Less depth in EU-focused allergen and PPDS labelling, and not built for kitchen-floor capture.

Why operators choose GNV

  • Single platform. Recipe, allergen matrix, supplier specifications, HACCP, traceability, recall, and audit export from one record - not five tools stitched together.
  • Captured at the point of work. Offline-first design means the kitchen floor is the source of truth, not a back-office reconstruction.
  • Cryptographic audit trail. Every label, every reading, every export is provably the same data the regulator queries.
  • Multi-jurisdiction by design. EU 1169, FSAI, HACCP, Natasha's Law/PPDS, and FSMA 204 from one record - operators going across borders don't keep two parallel systems.
  • Pricing built for enterprise rollout. Platform fee plus per-site licence, structured for multi-site contract caterers and institutional groups.
